My Journey to Health

February 10th, 2012

Born on August 6, 1953, in the city of Detroit Michigan, I was almost a ten pound baby with lots of hair. I still have most of my hair today, but it’s a whole lot grayer then it was before.

I grew up in Redford Michigan, and have spent my entire life in this beautiful state. I enjoy the different seasons and the many changes in the weather. Many people don’t like our winter months here, but I probably enjoy this season most of all, because of Christmas, the outdoors, and hockey. I was introduced to hockey at a young age and I fell in love with the sport. I loved all sports, but hockey was my favorite.

Every year, we would make our outdoor rinks, or just find a pond somewhere that had frozen over, and we would play hockey all day, and well into the night. We would come home battled, bruised, and bloody, but we all had a smile on our face.

Backyard Hockey Rink

I wasn’t a very big kid so I had to rely on the one thing that I was good at, and that was my speed. I was fast, and I learned early in life, that you need to utilize your strengths, and down play your weaknesses.

I grew up, got married, had a family of my own, and thirty-five successful years, at Ford Motor Company. God has given me a wonderful wife, five beautiful children, and thirteen grand-children.

I have never been an easy learner, and life has had to take me around the block a couple of times before things finally start to sink in. Yes, I am a graduate of the school of hard knocks.

The last couple of years that I spent at Ford Motor Company, I started to put on some weight. I wasn’t playing any kind of sports, I wasn’t working out, I was eating whatever I wanted to eat, and it started to show. People that knew me started to make comments, because this was not like me. I was always fit and active, and now I was getting fat and lazy. I would always have a donut or two every morning with my coffee. It started to get a little embarrassing after a while.

The defining moments happened when my aunt came up to me at a family reunion, and told me with a loud voice, that I was fat. She said it very loudly, and anyone that was close by, heard her. Another embarrassing situation.

The next one was when my doctor sat down with me and explained that, even though I was in relatively good health, I was traveling down a path of destruction, and maybe even an early death, if I didn’t start to make some changes in my life, and make them soon.

I realized that years were starting to go by me as fast as months used to, and before I knew it, time would be nipping right at my heals. I needed to do something and I needed to act sooner rather than later.

My wife had introduced us to a diet that she was doing, and doing with a good amount of success. She lost 45 pounds on it, and I lost ten, even though I really wasn’t trying. I simply just ate the food that she put out in front of me, but one draw back to this diet, was all the preparation, measuring and weighing, that she had to go through to get dinner on the table. It was a lot of work, that she just didn’t have the time for.

Along comes Visalus Sciences, 90 Day Health Transformation. Notice I didn’t say diet because this is not a diet, it’s a transformation. As with any transformation in your life, there has to be a mindset that goes along with it. Products are products, but you are still the one that has to perform the actions.

What the 90 Day Challenge can do.

Weather your trying to quit smoking, or losing weight, you have got to wrap your mind around what you’re attempting to do, or you will fail. Having the right mindset has to be in place, to reach your goal. Simply put, success will only come when you have the want to, to succeed.

Everyone who fails, always does it at this point, and then they are always looking for excuses. The products are no good, or there’s people to blame, as to why they couldn’t lose the weight, or quit smoking. All that is, is one big fat excuse! It’s not having the real drive and mindset, that will trip  you up, not the product, or any other person.

I was done making excuses and I knew that I had to do this right now, and I was ready to wrap my whole mind, body, and soul around reaching my goal of losing 40 pounds.

I have joined the Challenge, and I have lost twenty pounds so far. I will be posting my progress as my journey continues.

Why do I love Visalus shakes?

  • It’s easy to mix a shake every morning. (Takes two minutes.)
  • It’s saves me money on my grocery bill every single week. (Each shake is under two dollars.)
  • I am losing weight. (20 gone so far)
  • My life transformation has begun.

In my next post, I will be talking about my routine, and what I’m doing to reach my goal of losing 40 pounds, and what I’ve done to have already dropped 20 pounds.

Have You Caught The Water Habit?

January 21st, 2012

70% of the earth’s surface is covered in water, and that isn’t counting the water vapors in the air. We have lots of water around us, but I just wonder, have you caught the water habit?

We all know that water is good for us, but do we really take enough of it into our bodies, to do us any good? If you’re like me, there are a lot of things that we know we should do, but never take any action on. Never applying what we learn, has been the biggest stumbling block to human growth in the world. If I applied just 1% of the things that I know, to my life, I would definitely be a more complete and solid person.

I’m a coffee drinker. I like my coffee, but when they say to drink more liquids, they don’t mean coffee, soda, or tea, they mean water. Good old H2O.

There are a tremendous amount of health benefits to drinking more water. As I began to research for this article post, I was totally taken back by how this simple little change, of drinking more water, can make a major change to your over all health. As a matter of fact, drinking more water is absolutely vital to your over all health.

What does water actually do for the health and preservation of our bodies?

Our bodies are almost 80% water. I mean that our brains and organs, muscle and tissue, and even our bones, all put together, need water to function properly. Water…

  • Transports nutrients and oxygen into cells
  • Moisturizes the air in our lungs
  • Helps with metabolism
  • Protects our vital organs
  • Helps our organs to absorb nutrients better
  • Regulates body temperature
  • Detoxifies
  • Protects and moisturizes our joints

When I used to work at Ford Motor Company, I worked in the paint department for a few years. I worked near the ovens that baked the paint into the metal bodies of the cars. The temperatures around those ovens would exceed 100 degrees on a daily basis, and we would have to constantly work at keeping ourselves hydrated, or you paid the price. It was not unusual to see a newbie, pass out from the heat, because he was not drinking enough fluids.

You didn’t wait until you were thirsty before you started to drink water, you did it all the time, because by the time you were thirsty, it was too late.

Signs of dehydration;

  • Dark yellow or even an orange kind of color, to your urine, and a strong urine odor as well.
  • Dry skin is another one. Our skin is the largest organ of the body and it needs lots of water.
  • Hunger can be attributed to the need of more water in our system, rather than more food. Drink water before you eat.
  • Fatigue can really mean your just thirsty. Water is a great source of energy and can give you a boast after you drink it.
  • Thirst means you should have drank some water a long time ago. When your body starts to feels dry, you have already started on the  dehydration road and need to drink some water right now.

How much water should you drink each day?

Most agree that this will depend on your activity level, the climate that you live in, and your body size and frame, but the consensus is, 8, eight ounce glasses of water should be consumed daily. Each one of us is different, so make the adjustments for yourself, but by all means, start drinking more water today.

Sure, you will be running into the bathroom more, but the health benefits well definitely out weigh any inconvenience that you have to go through. Your body will eventually adjust to this as well.

If you are trying to lose weight, or are on the 90 Day Body By Vi Challenge, this is an absolute must for you. You must keep yourself hydrated to help yourself to lose weight.

Have you caught the water habit yet? If you haven’t, you need too. This simple little adjustment to your life today, will pay out its dividends to your health for years to come.

Commitment is Required in Anything You Do

January 20th, 2012

A word that has dramatically faded in the mist of our society today is the word commitment. You just don’t hear it spoken much anymore, and you definitely don’t see it being played out in the world very much either.

According to the dictionary, the word commit means; “to bind or obligate, as by pledge or assurance; pledge: to commit oneself to a promise; to be committed to a course of action.”

To be committed to a course of action, that’s what commitment means, and that holds true to anything we do in life.

There are many things that we commit ourselves to all the time, but seeing it all the way to the end is another subject.

Are you married? Are you committed to your spouse and your marriage today, as much as you were when you first came into this union with your lifelong partner? I think this is why there are so many divorces today, because we lack commitment to the ones that we pledged our love and devotion too when we said I do.

I think that’s why there are so many people won’t go down the path of “Holy Matrimony” anymore, because they’re so afraid of commitment to only one person. It’s really a very selfish act, when you think about it.

Successful people are committed people, whether it’s in marriage, business, sports, or any other road that you decide to travel. If you are not committed to seeing it all the way to the end, to its completion, you will fail! Not maybe, or if…you will fail! That is 100% true all the time!

Because non committed people are quitters, and a quitter will never, ever win.

People who don’t want too, or are unable to commit, are really giving themselves a way out, that some day down the road, they may want to end this endeavor, and without a commitment, they leave themselves an open door to exit whenever they want too.

When we are totally lacking commitment in anything, we are setting our selves up for failure. We are really saying that, I’m in this as long as I’m comfortable and things are going my way, but the minute we hit rough waters, and the waves start to splash in over the side, I’m bailing out.

There are countless stories of committed people who overcame tremendous odds to come out a winner in the end. They never gave up on a dream, a person, or a business, and despite being that fish swimming up-stream, they pursued their commitment to a successful end.

  1. Thomas Edison tried over ten thousand times before he came up with the incandescent light bulb.
  2. The “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book series, by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen, was rejected by 123 publishers. There are now 70 million copies in print today, and in 58 different countries.
  3. Dewy Bozella, wrongly convicted and imprisoned for almost 32 years of his life, for a crime he didn’t commit,  earned his freedom, and was the recipient of the 2011 “Arthur Ashe Award for Courage.” Read his incredible story Here.
These are just three stories of the courage, and perseverance of commitment. The one thread that runs through all three of these stories is exactly the same.  They were all committed till the end, and the end for all of them was victory and success, and they would not stop until this was accomplished and completed…nothing else would do, and nothing else would bring them any kind of satisfaction.I don’t care if it’s in your marriage, your business, or losing weight, you will never accomplish anything until you are truly committed. Committed to a course of action, and stay committed until you reach your goal and win the prize.

“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.  But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-26

Think before you commit, but once you commit, stay committed all the way to the end… and you will win the prize.

    You can do it!

Obesity is a Disease!

January 16th, 2012

My name is Brian Gosur, and I am an alcoholic. Alcoholism is a disease. It’s a disease that slowly creeps into your life and makes its claim on you. It takes over everything, and becomes the desire, the drive, and the motivation for your life. It kills, not only on a physical level, but on an emotional, and spiritual level as well. It destroys your family, your finances, and your friends. You will die a very slow and agonizing death, while everyone who loves you, can only sit back and watch this horrible tragedy take place.

The real sad thing about this type of decease is you, and only you, hold the key to turning this whole thing around. Your family and your friends can try to encourage you and support you with everything that they have in them, but only you can make the decision to quit, and change the course of your life forever.

So it is with obesity. Obesity is a disease, and 67% of Americans have it. Like alcohol the first thing you do is never admit that you have a problem.

You say, you can stop whenever you want. You say, you just reward yourself for working real hard all week. No big deal…yea you kinda over eat at that holiday party, but it was Christmas…You just couldn’t say no and hurt their feelings…besides, everyone else was doing it…right? You tell yourself that, after the holidays, you’re going to start that diet and do those exercises, and you will get back that shape that you once had.

Is This You?

Any of those excuses sound familiar? They do to me, because as an alcoholic, I used every one of them over and over again. They didn’t mean a thing to me because I knew,  I never had any intention of ever doing or keeping any of them. They were just empty words that I used all the time, but they had no real meaning for me, and all the people who loved me knew that as well.

People will eventually begin to give up on you, and you will find yourself drifting further and further away from your home, and from those that love you and depend on you.

I know that I can never ever have a drink again, and I don’t miss it one single bit. It has been almost twelve years of sobriety for me, and I thank God, and my wonderful wife, for bringing me through this journey. It was not easy. It was hard, but it was worth every step that I took to get to where I am today.

As I contemplated writing this article, I realized that there are a lot of similarities between the decease of alcoholism and the disease of obesity. I wanted to use my experience and my struggle with my disease, to help those of you in your struggle with your disease of obesity, and even those of you who may be just at the start, of your unhealthy life of being over weight and over eating.

Here are five steps that you must come to grips with before you can ever hope of getting healthy again.

1. Houston…We Have a Problem

The first thing, and the hardest thing for me to admit was that I had a drinking problem. This is the hardest step for anyone to take. I thought that if I only drank on the weekend and got drunk on the weekend, I was OK, but my friend told me that it just meant that I was a weekend alcoholic, but an alcoholic none the less.

Is your scale trying to tell you something?

Food will slowly start to creep into your life just like that. It tastes good and you like to eat it, and you never give a thought to what your eating or if it’s good for you. Before you know it your eating more of it all the time, and at all hours of the day and night. You maybe even sneaking it into your house or bedroom, and the pounds start to slowly add-on.

You have to realize the truth and see, that for you, food is no longer just for living, but you are living for your food.

2. Never Walk Alone

The second thing that I came to realize, was that I could not win this battle by myself. That’s a very hard thing to admit when you’re an, “I can do that,” kind of person. You know the kind that never asks for directions when he gets lost…that’s me.

Look for those people who love you and care about, and want to help you win this battle, and then cling to them and learn to lean an them, it will make all those bumps in the road, a lot easier to take.

I do promote the Body By Vi 90 Day Challenge, because it works and you will never walk this road alone. We encourage you to get three people to join you on your challenge, not only because the product works, but because statistics show that when people take on a challenge for anything, their success lies in the encouragement and support of their family and friends. Plus, when you get three people to join you, your product is free. Lose weight, and get healthy for free.

3. Find The Right Plan For You

There are a ton of weight loss products and programs out there. Find the one that works for you. Check them out and see if it’s right for you, because if it’s not, you will not see results and after a couple of weeks of struggling for results… you will quit.

Take the time and do the research and find the right product and plan your road to a new healthy you.

4. Exercise has To Be A Part of The Plan

People still walk the malls.

No if, ands, or buts about it, you must get off the couch and get some physical exercise. That’s part of the reason why you’re in this situation in the first place. Eating too much, eating all the wrong things, and never getting any exercise.

I think that exercise is the first thing to go. You get a little bit older and you get a little bit busier, and then you lose the contact with your friends that you used to play basketball, tennis, and  golf with, and you learn a new activity…how to veg out on the couch with your chips, beer and pizza.

Start to integrate an exercise plan in along with your new eating plan. Take a shake in the morning, a light lunch, and a good healthy dinner, and then a walk or a run to close the day out. You will feel better and best of all, you will see those pounds start to fall off. Believe me…it’s a great feeling.

5. Do It Today – Start Right Now!

As my friend Cedrick Harris always says, “don’t be a member of the biggest nation on the planet, called Procrastination. I use to live there, and I didn’t like it one single bit. Nothing gets moving in that nation, and there are no success stories coming out of that country.

How many times have you said, “you got a point there Brian, I’m going to take a good look at it later,” “I’m pretty busy right now, but I will check it out,” “I know I need to do something, I’m going to get started someday.” Someday becomes next month, and next month becomes next year, and in the mean time you’re getting fatter, and your heart is working harder, and you’re blood pressure is getting higher, and eventually your walking time bomb…EXPLODES…and you die.

My doctor tried to tell me this years ago, until one day he sat me down and just hit me between the eyes with the truth. My alcoholism was going to kill me. He said you are going to die, if you don’t change your life around right now…today!

Obesity is a disease, you and only you can decide whether you’re going to be another statistic, or another success story that will reach out and save someone elses life. But you need to start today…right now.

When We See Clearly…

January 11th, 2012

Have you ever been in a situation or a circumstance, when everybody can see what’s really going on, but you? You’re scratching your head and you’re straining to put it all together, while everyone else is giving you that look that says, “you can’t see that?’

I hate playing cards or board games, because I’m always the last one, to figure out how to play, and by the time I do, I’ve lost the game for me and anyone who’s on my team. When we see clearly and the fog is lifted, then we have that, “Oh, I get it now,” moment.

You’ve been there? You know what I mean? I’ve been there a lot in my life. It takes me a little while, but I will eventually figure it out. I’m a slow learner, but once I get it, I don’t forget it.

You don’t want to be playing this kind of game when it comes to your health though. You don’t want to figure it out when its way to late to make any significant changes.

2012 is here and over half of all Americans are over weight and obese. That maybe you and you’ve thought about taking some steps to lose some weight and get back that shape you once had, but your busy, you’re young and there is time to kill today, and you’ll get to it when the kids are older and you have more time. After all, you play tennis, you golf, go for walks once in a while, that’s exercise… right?

Wrong. If it’s not elevating your heart rate, it’s not exercise. Playing a video golf game is not exercise. Even a WI video game is not real exercise. Not the kind you would be getting if you were playing and walking nine or even eighteen holes on a real course.

I know a couple that’s in their eighties, and they will go out and play thirty-six holes and they walk…now that’s exercise.

My point is this…when we really look at a situation and see what’s really going on, see the real truth of the matter, that’s when we will get serious about doing something to change the results.

We are the worst country on God’s green earth, when it comes to eating healthy. We have a healthcare system that is getting so expensive to run, because of over weight Americans that won’t take their health seriously. We have our children that can’t walk across the street without getting out of breath, because they eat fast food and don’t exercise.

It’s time to look in the mirror America and see things the way they really are. Do you want to die at fifty years old, of a massive heart attack? Do you want to put your children through the stresses of diabetes, hyper-tension, and heart disease? Do you want to watch your grandchildren playing soccer from a wheel chair, with an oxygen tank at your side?

These and more are waiting for you in the path of life that you’re on right now, unless you start taking your health and you’re weight seriously…right now! Not tomorrow and not next week…right now!

I know that I talk about this and promote this on my blog all the time but the reason I do is because it works. I never promote something that I’ve never tried, and I will never promote anything that doesn’t work.

The Body By Vi Challenge has more than 80,000 people a month joining in because it works! Thousands of people with thousands of testimonies of how they are losing weight and getting healthy again is real and it’s out there for all to see.

I have lost fifteen pounds, well on my way to my goal of dropping forty. I feel great, I exercise, and I have more energy now, then I’ve had in years, plus I’m helping others to get back on the road to health, wealth, and prosperity.

Open your eyes to the truth and to what’s really going on in your life. Are you happy where you’re at in your life concerning your health and your weight? If you’re not, then why not check out a meal replacement shake that is changing people’s lives all over the country.

You’re Fat! – You’re New Years Resolution – To Lose Weight

December 28th, 2011

The time is here for your New Years Resolution. Lots of people don’t bother with New Years Resolutions. I myself usually don’t bother with them either, because we just don’t ever keep them, but I do set goals, and I guess that might be considered a resolution.

Guess what the number one resolution is? ….give up?…it’s spending more time with family and loved ones, and I guess that is always a popular one right after you just spent your Christmas with all of your family and friends.

Guess which one comes in second place?…yes it’s that very familiar…I’m going to lose weight one. That is by far the ultimate, most popular resolution of all time. We’ve all been their, and we can all relate to the ridiculous assumption, that we are actually going to get on the road to a healthy and fit me, by losing some weight. We are all very good at talking about it, but not very good about doing it.

Lets do what Nike says…just do it! Do you want to get really motivated? Click on the picture that says, “Do It”.

Let’s get real serious here for a moment. Are you struggling to get back that shape? Are you always starting out with good intentions, and a strong motivation to succeed, but somehow there is always that something that derails your progress and inhibits your race to the finish-line?

Why is it so hard to… just do it, when it comes to getting healthy and losing weight? Why do we struggle so much when it comes to shedding those unwanted pounds. Why can’t i lose weight?

The first reason that most people struggle is accountability. Statistics show, that people who have partners that they are accountable too, are one hundred times more likely to succeed than those that under take their task all by themselves. Never go it alone. We are born to be social creatures, we are not born to roam this earth alone.

I think women are a lot better at this than men are. Men don’t want to stop and ask for directions, and they don’t want everyone to think that they can’t figure out how to do this. Men, it’s not that your ignorant or stupid, it’s just that there is strength in numbers. Don’t buck against what works, just do it!

Get Results

You must have a system or a product that gets you results. There are a million different products and systems out there that promise you will lose weight, but you must find the right one that works for you. If you’re not comfortable with it, and it doesn’t fit into your schedule, it won’t produce the results that you’re looking for, and if it doesn’t produce results, you’re going to quit. It’s just that simple.

That’s why thousands and thousands of people, make resolutions to lose weight, every year, and six weeks down the road they have quit and jumped off the wagon. Don’t follow all the hype, follow the one that gets results and just do it!

If your new years resolution is to lose weight, I’m going to give you the answer to all of what you’re searching for. The solution to your unending quest for something that will get you the results you need, and give you the accountability that will guarantee you the success that you’ve always wanted, but could never attain. Here it is.

  • No more measuring and weighing food. That’s so boring and time-consuming.
  • No more spending hours and lots of money, in those specialty stores, so you can buy only fruits and vegetables that are grown in some remote parts of the jungle, because they’re good for you. As a matter of fact, my system will save you money each week on your grocery bill. Your grocery bill will start to shrink, and so will your waistline.
  • Every month over 50,000 people are joining this system. Talk about accountability? There is a chatline where you can share, encourage, and see the results that others are having, as together you walk toward the goal of a new slimmer and healthier you.
  • Every year the company gives out over 10 million dollars in free products, prizes, and vacations, to those people who attain their goals of losing weight.
  • This company was featured on the cover of “Success From Home” magazine, twice in the past twelve months.
  • On top of saving money on food bills, they have a program called Refer 3, get your product next month for Free! Simply refer three others to the same thing that you’re doing, and they’ll ship your product for free! Maintain 3, and your products are always FREE! Accountability!
  • Who do you know right now that may want to lose a few pounds, or maybe just focus on their health with you for 90 days? I bet you know more than 3… so you can earn your product for FREE! Everyone wants to lose weight!

That’s my system, and I’ve lost fifteen pounds already. It works, saves me money on my grocery bill each week, and I have lots of accountability. Lots of people are attaining their goals and discovering that new slimmer and healthy person inside.

Don’t just make another half-hearted, just going through the motions, new years resolution again this year. Let this be the year that you take your health and your life seriously. Get back that vibrant, healthy, active person you once were, and if you never were that person before, you can create that person now. You are never to old to get back that shape.

Get healthy, lose weight, and do it for free!

Watch this very emotional story of Eric Rose. He was 600 pounds and was just giving up on life, until he heard about “The Challenge”. Eric lost 124 pounds in 90 days without exercise or pills. Watch his story right here

To Fix the Healthcare System in This Country – Americans Need To Lose Some Weight

October 16th, 2011

I know that I’ve been harping on this subject for a while, and I will keep harping on it till we all start getting off our butts and do something about it.

Americans are fat and getting fatter, our healthcare system is way out of whack, and we need to do something about it, and do it now before it’s to late. By that time we will all lose and it won’t be weight that we will be losing, it will be our very lives and the lifestyles that we enjoy.

They say if you do something for 21 days in a row in will become a habit. Americans have developed a very bad habit of having what we want and having it right now. We can’t wait for nothing. Everyone is in hurry to get to no where fast, so we stop eating good healthy nutritional foods and we go to the…fast food, because we can’t wait. Fast food is killing us and killing our children.

Poor diet and lack of exercise is responsible for over 300,000 deaths each year.  The annual cost to society for obesity is estimated at nearly $100 billion. The bad habit of eating unhealthy diets and the lack of exercise, that we teach our children, is something we can’t afford to give our kids anymore. Watching kids that can’t even walk down the street because they are out of breath is the most troubling thing to observe.

When I was young and in school, we had to go to gym class everyday, and we had to do calisthenics. I can still remember doing those jumping jacks, pushups, squat thrusts, climbing the pegboard, and then running around the gym, sometimes for the whole hour. That physical activity was developing good habits in us, and many of us went on to continue actively playing sports.

Today , kids spend hours sitting on their butts in front of a TV watching or playing video games. My grandson was over and he was sitting on the coach watching TV when all the other kids were outside on a beautiful summer day. I turned the TV off and made him go outside.

My mom had to send my brothers out to find us and make us come home and eat. We didn’t want to come inside, it didn’t matter if it was summer or winter, we were always outside.

Just think if all of us were eating good healthy nutritious diets. What if we were all active from our youth, and even when we got into our older years we were still playing tennis, walking, swimming, how do you think that would enhance your life and mine? Our families wouldn’t be getting as sick as we do today, and we would live longer and more fruitful lives.

Do you think that just might have an effect on our healthcare system, our economy, and the strength of America today?

I saw a man who was in his nineties and he loved to play golf. He’s been doing it since he was a teenager and loves it, and he is still very good. You might want to get him on your foursome the next time you go out.

I have been working at getting my life back to exercise and eating right. I have lost fourteen pounds as I write this article, and lost an inch off my waist. My goal is to lose forty pounds. One of the greatest feelings is to put your pants on and find that they are loose. You find that you have to take that belt up a notch, that you don’t have to hold your breath when you bend down to tie your shoes. That is the greatest feeling in the world…to know that you are moving toward your goal of health, hope, and happiness.

People who are healthy are happier, they work better, have better sex, and they’re wealthier. Wouldn’t it be nice to have America on this road? Might make a world of difference from where we are today in this country. I know one thing…it can’t hurt.

Are you happy where you are with your weight? Are you happy where your health is? Would you like to see, not only yourself, but your family, maybe some friends or neighbors, get their lives back on the road to a healthy lifestyle?

Let it start with you. You be the catalyst and the motivation that they can see and talk too about how you did it. You be the driving force that they need to get started and take them all the way to their goal. Together as a team we all can get there.

Playing on a team took everyone to, encouraging, and motivating each other, even when some of us were struggling and down. The team would rally around them and lift them up. We could never do it alone and neither can you.

Join the team and do it, and be the motivation for your kids, your wife, and your family. Take the challenge. It will be one of the best decisions you will ever make. It will change your life and you will never be the same again.

Eating Healthy and Losing Weight Doesn’t have to Cost a Fortune

September 26th, 2011

My wife and I are on the path of eating right, adding more physical activity into our lives and losing weight, but if you’ve ever tried getting on this same path, you may have realized that it isn’t cheap. With gas prices continuing to climb, buying food in general is costing more and certainly buying good food to eat is also putting a bigger dent in your wallet than it did before.

First thing is getting on a weight loss or weight control program. Notice I didn’t say diet, because diets never work. They are a one time event that people jump on to take off some pounds and than when they have achieved there goal, they go back to eating the way they used, and put all that weight right back on. Diets are not bad, it’s just the lack of support and willpower of people that makes them never work.

A health transformation is a better term that I like to use, because that’s exactly what you’re attempting to achieve. You don’t simply want to lose weight, you want to reeducate yourself on health and nutrition. Yes, losing weight will probably be a by-product of this health transformation, but it’s not the goal. We want something that is going to change our health and our lives forever.

Now there are a lot of good programs out there and one of the better ones is Weight Watchers. I know a friend of mine who was on their program and lost the weight, and has kept it off, which is another key element to a successful weight loss program.

The thing she complained about was all the weighing of your food and their is also a monthly fee that is charged for continuing to be on the program. It’s $29.95 to sign up and an $18.95 charge every month. Remember, eating healthy and losing weight is not cheap.

Don't forget to weigh all your food

The next very popular program is Nutrisystem. I’m sure you’ve seen the commercials with Marie Osmund that they use. Nutrisystem sends you frozen meals that you eat and lose weight. For the basic 28 day meal program, it will cost you $321.10 and you can cancel at anytime. They also have a vegetarian one that will cost you $233.28 a month. This will come out of your food budget, but they are frozen meals.

These programs are good programs and there are lots of people who have been on them and lost weight and have kept the weight off, but they are not free. There is a price tag attached to them.

But what if I told you that eating healthy and losing weight doesn’t have to cost you a fortune? What if I told you about a program where you will not only lose weight, but you will also lose a significant portion of your food budget? And what if I told you that you would not only lose weight, lose a good chunk off your food budget, and even get paid for doing it?

That’s exactly what Visalus Sciences can do for you. It’s the shake mix that tastes like a cake mix, and it is very good. It’s a meal replacement shake that gives you all the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs. It’s not an appetite suppressant, it’s a meal replacement. I have a friend of mine who is taking one of those appetite suppressants and he can only take them for so long because of the chemical reaction it could have. Ladies and gentlemen, pills are not good for you. You have to eat to live and taking a a pill because you lack the discipline to eat the right things is not a healthy road to be on.

Delicious Body By Vi Shakes

With Visalus all you have to do is take one or two shakes everyday and get back that shape that you once had. They are healthy for you, and remember because they are a meal replacement, you will save money on your grocery bill. Each shake costs under $2.00 and if you take two a day, that two meals for under $5.00. Where are you going to get two healthy and nutritious meals for under $5.00.

Rather than purchase these nutritious shakes for yourself every month, lose weight and get yourself back on the road to a healthy lifestyle, Visalus will give them to you for free. Yes, I said FREE!

Science shows that every time we undertake a project of this magnitude, we will almost always seal our success by asking others to do it with us. Weather it’s quitting smoking or losing weight, it’s always to our advantage to have other people join us in the task. They are there to encourage and lift us up when we get down, and they will be there to share in the triumphs as we cross over those weight loss barriers.

So if you can find just three people who will come on board with you, join you in the challenge of losing weight and getting back that shape that you once had, they will give you your shakes for free. That’s all you have to do. Help three other people to lose that weight and get healthy again and your products are free.

Depending on how much weight you want to lose, there are four different programs that are available for you. Get the best one that will cover your needs and then find three friends. It’s that easy.

If you enjoy the program as much as I have and see all the success stories, and how easy this is, you might want to help others also, and get paid for it too. Visalus is the fastest growing company according to the “Wall Street Journal” They have been posted on the cover of “Success From Home” magazine twice in the last twelve months.

In the past 60 days my team has produced 57 BMW qualifiers, 2 Ambassadors, 4 Presidential directors, 207 Rising Stars,
and countless success stories. If you are looking for another career, or another source of income, you would be doing yourself a tremendous favor looking into Visalus Sciences.

So remember that eating healthy and losing weight doesn’t have to cost you a fortune, as a matter of fact it can be free to get healthy again, and it can also pay you a very nice income.

Obese Children Are Not an Uncommon Sight Anymore

September 21st, 2011

It’s not a big deal anymore for us to see and be overweight in America. It’s become old hat to see big over weight, and out of shape people. It’s become rather normal to see fat obese people walking around, or should I say struggling to walk around.

During this past summer, my wife and I went into get an ice cream at a famous ice cream shop, and as we sat down to enjoy one of my favorite summertime treats, it caught my attention that everyone in that place were overweight, including us. We were talking about the coupon that we found, and how proud we were that we got one of our ice cream treats for free. Proud to save money while we think nothing of stuffing ourselves with ice cream. I look back at that now and don’t find anything to be proud of at all.

But the one picture that I will never get used to seeing, is when I see a five or six-year-old child struggling to get in or out of the car because they are not just overweight, they are obese.

Fast Food is killing our kids

Obesity in America is growing into a major health problem, but obesity in our children is growing at an alarming rate. Studies show that children who struggle with obesity in their youth, will grow into adults with major health risks. Heart decease, high cholesterol, hypertension, respiratory ailments, orthopedic problems, depression and type 2 diabetes. The hospital costs alone associated with childhood obesity were estimated at $127 million during 1997–1999, up from $35 million during 1979–1981. In 2000, the total cost of obesity for children and adults in the United States was estimated to be $117 billion. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that’s billion with a B and every year it goes up.

You want to talk about fixing the health care system in this country, you might want to start looking at our children and the almost 80% of all Americans that are obese today.

Think about that word obese for a minute. I’m not just talking about fat or overweight people, I’m talking about being obese…80% of all Americans are obese. A whole society that has a completely nonchalant attitude about food and what they put into their mouths and it’s being passed down to our children. The national debt and our eating habits are going to kill this country if we don’t start doing something very soon.

The two biggest reasons for this growing obesity problem in America is eating to much of the wrong things, and not getting enough exercise. Now It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, but we spend millions of dollars every year to find a solution to this crisis when the answer is simple and right under our noses.

We are eating ourselves to death and there are children on the other side of the globe that are starving to death. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Instead of talking about it, lets start doing something about it.

Now I’m not talking about starting a new diet that everyone needs to get on, God knows we don’t need another one of those, but we do need to educate ourselves on some very simple and basic information, and then get off our butts and just do it.

1. Eating the Right Things

Lets see, french fries, ice cream, and cheeseburgers are not the right things. Jillian Michaels, from the TV hit series, “Biggest Loser”, says that kind of food is poison to your body. Would you eat arsenic…noooo, so why would you eat something that is just as harmful? These foods may not kill you in ten minutes, but it will eventually kill you down the road. Don’t you want to be around to see your grand children and great grand children? Than start giving some thought to what you’re eating.

My wife and I started a health transformation challenge, and no I can’t stop talking about it, because it has forever changed the way I look at eating. I watch what I put into my mouth now. I still love to snack, but I snack now on fruits and things that are nutritionally good for my body.

The chemicals that we put in our foods to preserve the shelf life and make it taste better, are killing us! My grand-mother cooked with real butter and used salt and had her own garden of vegetables that she used in her cooking everyday…NO CHEMICALS, all fresh. She drank coffee, not de-caf, didn’t smoke, and drank alcohol only for medicinal purposes, and she lived to be 98 years old.

Now I love ice cream, and my wife and I will reward our selves with a treat on occasion, but what I’m starting to see happening is our taste for that kind of stuff is diminishing. I never thought I would see the day when I would say, “I can skip the ice cream”. It takes a little discipline, but your body will eventually start to loose its craving for those kinds of things.

I’m 58 years old. I’ve lost twelve pounds and I’m well on my way to my goal of dropping 40. I’m exercising and toning up and It’s exciting to be feeling awesome once again.

Watch what you put into your mouth!

2. Start to Get Out and Move Again

I’ve always been active in my life, played sports and was always out doing something, but it doesn’t take long to get used to sitting in front of that TV or video game and just do nothing. If that’s you…BREAK THAT HABIT RIGHT NOW, and a habit is all it is. Habits just start by doing the same thing over and over, again and again, until it becomes something that you do all the time without thinking.

Just like you develop bad habits, start bringing in new ones. Get off the couch and get moving. Start slow at first by taking a little walk. Just get in the habit of moving. Now you may experience some soreness at first, but remember, no pain…no gain. It’s the act of starting that’s the hardest thing to do.

I started walking a little on the treadmill and doing push ups every day. I can do 45 push-ups right now at one sitting, and walk a couple of miles a day. Now when I say push-ups, I don’t mean those girl push-ups. I used to be able to do 100 at a time back in the day, and I would like to get back to that point again, and you know what…I will.

If you have young children, get them outside and away from the TV and computer. Sign them up for Volleyball, baseball, basketball, or track, and go to every game they have. Show them that you’re interested in what they are doing.

Exercise as a family. Ride your bikes together, go for hikes, get out and have a family fun day where you all get outside and do something together. You’ll not only be building strong healthy children, but you’ll be building strong healthy relationships and memories that will last a life time.

3. Plan Your Diet

Last of all take some time to plan your meals for your family. Get some education on good nutritional foods and snacks for your kids. It doesn’t have to be dull and bland to taste good and be good for you.

Lets turn this ………………………………………into this.

You and I can make a big difference on our children, our grand children, their future and the future of America. We can Do it! Lets Start Today…Right Now!

Get Up and Start Moving! Invest in your children and the future of America.

What Are We Having For Dinner Tonight?

September 2nd, 2011

How many times have you heard that one before, or how many times have you said that before?

Weather we like it or not, or whether we want to admit it or not, food is a huge part of our everyday lives. The people around us and the atmosphere that we live in, will have a very direct effect on what we eat.

I think this goes why back to our ancestors, but because of the space allowed me here in this blog, I will just go back as far as grandma.

Did you used to go to grandma’s house when you were a kid, visit the family, see the aunts and uncles, cousins, and….eat? Yes you ate food and you ate lots of it because, that was the one thing grandma lived for, to see her whole family at her house, happy, talking, laughing, and …yes eating.

I can still remember those days. They were good times with lots of grandma’s home cooked Polish food.

kielbasa, kuposta, and some pierogis. Good Polish food.

My ancestors were from Poland, and like most people, we got around together and we ate. Kielbasa, ham, pierogi, stuffed cabbage, and not to mention the deserts, they were all so good, but the one thing they had in common…they were full of fat, calories, and other stuff that was not good for you.

Food is a gathering point for most Americans today. Before we finish one meal we are already trying to decide what we are going to eat for the next.

There is a difference between how we eat and what we eat today, and that has a lot to do with our very busy schedules. When we went to grandma’s house, we had all day and most of the evening to eat all that food. There was always time for a cup of coffee and another slice of homemade pie, before we hit the road for that long drive home.

Today we don’t have all that much time, so we go to places that can prepare our food fast and cheap…that’s where we get the name fast food. The one thing about fast food is that it’s made cheaply and to be eaten fast, so there is not a lot of thought put in about nutrition or healthy food.

Good old American favorite, cheeseburger

Is it any wonder why 80% of all Americans are obese? Is it any wonder why our children are going into grade school over weight and out of shape?

I hear about, and I have participated in some different kinds of weight loss movements in the past, but as most of us have done, I’ve failed. I think the reason why we’ve failed in this so badly, is because we don’t realize how much of an emotional attachment we have to food.

I just mentioned one, with our trips to grandma’s house, but I know that there are hundreds of others that we could share.

My wife was raised in a verbally abusive home, and part of the reward she would get after being pelted with a barrage of very hurtful words, was food. Some sort of treat or guilt offering was given to her and to this day, when she gets upset over certain things, she will eat. Those same emotions, when stirred today, will draw out the very same responses that they did so many years ago.

We need to change all that. I don’t mean to change our emotional attachment to our food, I don’t think we will ever be able to do that, but we can train ourselves on what kinds of foods we are attached too.

Instead of running to the chocolate peanut butter ice cream, (my personal favorite),  when I get upset, try eating an orange, or some other type of food that you like. Make it a pleasurable food, not something that you don’t like but that’s good for you.

Next, work on those emotional triggers that get your chocolate ice cream emotions flowing. 90% of who we are comes from the environment that we are in. Change your environment if you can, and your eating habits will follow.

Now I’m not saying run out and get divorced because you can’t stand your husband, or sell your kids because they are driving you nuts, but get plugged into people and friends that lift you up. Laugh together, get out and join a bowling league, or golf club, play racket ball, do something physical that will get your blood moving. It’s a great way to relieve stress.

Stay strong and don’t get caught up into putting bad things into your mouth. Learn and practice to eat good food, and don’t use food as a stress reliever. Learn to use exercise, and some sort of physical activity, to do that.

Don’t forget to exercise your mind. With the advent of internet and computer games, we have become coach potatoes. Our kids can brag about how far they went on a certain computer game, but they can’t pick up a book and read a sentence without stumbling on a word.

Read and exercise your mind. Books can take you into a totally different world, and you can be someone or do something very special that you always dreamed about. Reading expands your mind and your horizons, and when you come back to earth, you will be better able to handle that stress that leads you to using food in a very unnatural way.

You see, food is given to us so that we can live, not the other way around.

Well, I have to go now. I smell something coming from the kitchen. I wonder what we are having for dinner tonight?
